Logan Sargeant's Formula 1 career is hanging in the balance after Williams' new boss James Vowles publicly courted Carlos Sainz to join the team. With Sainz's contract at Ferrari ending and Lewis Hamilton taking his seat, Sargeant's position looks increasingly precarious.

The 23 year old American driver has struggled in his second F1 season, failing to secure any points and suffering from poor qualifying performances throughout 2024.

Despite previous comments suggesting Williams had not yet decided on their line-up, Vowles' recent statement implies a shift away from Sargeant could be imminent.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Vowles made it clear that Williams is undergoing a transformation: "Why Williams? There's a reason why I'm here. Williams isn't the same Williams it was three years ago. And by the definition of the fact that we are even talking to Carlos shows you that we've changed our approach.

He further emphasized the team's ambitions, stating, "We want two world-class drivers to be a part of our stable going forward. We want the world to realize that we're here and we're serious. We're investing what it takes to be back at the front."

Following the recent long-term signing of his teammate Alex Albon, Vowles' hint that Williams is on the hunt for 'two world-class drivers' may give Sargeant an indication of their future plans for him.

Rumours have been swirling throughout the season that Mick Schumacher could be in line to replace Sargeant, with Aston Martin reserve driver Felipe Drugovich also reportedly in the running for his spot.

Sargeant is one of three drivers yet to score a point this season, having been involved in multiple crashes over the past two seasons. The 23 year old has the remainder of the season to demonstrate his worth, not only to Williams but also to other teams, if he hopes to secure a racing seat in 2025.
