What is the best audio buffer size for neural DSP? ›

So, basically we recommend using our plugins in 44.1Khz or 48Khz audio sessions with HIGH oversampling settings to get the best quality possible. You can usually raise the buffer size up to 128 or 256 samples without being able to detect much latency in the signal.

A single Neural DSP license can be activated on 3 different computers at the same time as long as the same iLok account is used on all of them. Licenses can be deactivated from computers that are not in use and transferred to other devices. This process can be repeated indefinitely.

Also, you can run the standalone as well (If you run it on windows, you can find the executable in C:/ Program Files / Neural DSP //. If you run it on Mac, you can find the app under the Applications folder).

But as a general rule: When Recording: Set the buffer size as low as you can to reduce latency. If you start hearing clicks and pops or your DAW gives you an error message, either raise the buffer size or reduce the number of effects plug-ins/audio tracks in your project.

All that said, there's no “industry standard” buffer size and sample rate, as it's all dependent on your computer's processing power. However, recording at 128 to 256 at a sample rate of 48kHz is acceptable for most home recording on modern-day computers.

Overview. All Neural DSP plugins come with a standalone version, meaning that you don't need a DAW to run them. However, if you're planning on recording your playing or using our plugins in your music production projects, you'll need to install them to your DAW.

It is important to adjust your input level so that it is not too low, causing a weak or noisy signal, or too high, resulting in clipping and a saturated sound. The easiest way to achieve this is by using the Hi-Z input of your audio interface.

It has been shown that people can perceive differences between 3 ms – 10 ms, and that our brain cannot distinguish anything below 3 ms. Therefore, for live performance, many musicians use a buffer size of 256 or 128 and a sample rate of 44.1 KHz.

Continue to check playback from your software and move the buffer up as needed. A lower buffer size is optimal for recording because the reduced latency will generally make it easier to monitor your incoming audio signal while performing.

Measured in seconds and set from 0.0 to 8 seconds, VBR Buffer is a measure of the Encoder buffer size. If the value is set too low, it can result in poor motion processing; higher-motion videos require higher VBR buffers. Typically, values in the 0.0 to 0.5 range are adequate for HD video, and 0.2-0.7 for UHD/4K video.
