I had to because I watched Buffy episode 12 4 times over and over trying to understand why they did him like that.
They treated him like a joke.
A previously dead Buffy just manhandled him.
No help from Angel. BUFFY was being choked and not even in pain and then she choked him and he was struggling to breath and then flipped him over her head to his death after punching him around like he was a fledgeling.
I always figured, partially prospectively and partially retroactively, that it was a result of the Slayer spirit moving on and Buffy realizing she's no longer under the prophecy.
The slayer spirit moving on means she's still fully enhanced as a slayer, but no longer half-possessed. Meanwhile, having died and come back means Buffy has tacitly realized that she's no longer guaranteed to die, and thus able to actually give it her all.

And now Giles/Willow/Buffy/Angel will be questioning Xander on how he was able to keep up with Buffy and help her to fight against Master. It would be fun to see how Xander having no choice but to reveal his devilkin heritage (reincarnated devil at least), he'll probably need his King's help to give proper explanations on how Devilkin from D x D High School works.
"Keep up"? Xander didn't really do much -- he hung back and flung vials of Holy Water at the Master whenever he had an opening, tossed Buffy garlic-spray and a lighter, and gave the Master a kick in the back when the old vampire was off-guard and kinda unbalanced.
He played the part of "Human Monster-Hunter" perfectly in that regard.

Oh, I thought he used his devil abilities but it appears that Xander is more cunning than I thought so by pretending to be 'human monster hunter' to throw suspicion off on him but the problem is Angel, his heightened smell is telling him that Xander ain't human.

Oh, no Angel knows
Xander lifted him up
and used magic to resuscitate Buffy

Honestly, I always headcanon'ed the Master beatdown as one of the Big Good putting their finger on the scale in Buffy's favour after she was resurrected.
Like, she has this moment of being basically the strongest she ever was/will be and it came right after a 'near' death experience? Reeks of something (good or bad) pulling some influence.
(yes, I know the fight itself doesn't exactly reflect the idea that Buffy was super-charged for the fight, outside of Buffy being able to manhandle the Master himself, but eh.)

This will likely accelerate Willow's descend into witchery, hopefully she would not misspell the first letter this time

I just hope I did the Master credit
I kept his over pretentious bragging and avoiding going for the kill nature from the show as him playing with his food plus he's been much weaker from decades trapped under a church but I wanted to make him feel like a threat like a Master Vampire 1200 years should be.
Xander can lift V8 engines in both hands like groceries and run twice as fast as Usain Bolt but The Master would pull him limb from limb in a straight fight.

Honestly, you did good job for portraying certain enemies like The Master on how powerful they can be with age, experience and powerups.
Xander has long way to reach Super Devil rank, methinks. Although I'm betting that Xander could hit High-class by season 5 or 6 at least. Ultimate class, maybe beyond season 7. Satan-class and beyond? Could be decades or more, depending on how much progress that Xander can make with his training, doing contracts and fighting against enemies to make him stronger.

Strictly speaking, I have no plans for Xander to reach high class by season 5. He has no sacred gear so different things would have to happen for that to end up that way. I know that there's ways to get him there but a natural growth would not get there.
He'd have to kill most of the vampires on the West Coast alone to get close to Mid class

Makes sense considering that there's not many beings in Buffyverse that can challenge Devil at High Class or higher. After all, it's your story since it's good so far.

On the other hand, there's lots and lots of artifacts on the Hellmouth, and the Scoobies encounter lots of them, then there are the special enemies, sure Xander don't solo them, but unless being part of killing them don't give partial credit, well things like the Mayor going Old one should provide a good power boost.
